An experienced communications professional working within the international NGO sector.

About Me

Communication is the most powerful tool we possess. Realising its potential is transformative. This belief has led me to pursue a career as a communicator with some of the most influential organisations in international development. Combining creativity, strategic thinking and communications theory, my approach is effective yet dynamic. I am 5 years into a life-time journey. There’s still much to learn. Yet the challenge is a constant motivator, searching to become the best driver of change I can be.

Every day I strive to change our world through telling powerful stories, that educate, inform and inspire.

Work Experience

United Nations Environment Programme, France
Communications Specialist
2022 - Present

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG12) is frequently overlooked. Yet achieving it will change the world fundamentally. I lead campaigns end-to-end, curate communications plans, design style guides, generate multimedia content and manage all social media channels to accelerate and realise that goal.

BirdLife International, UK
Communications & Policy Officer
2021 - 2022

Environmental projects that help conserve species and change livelihoods around the globe. These stories are worth narrating. I supported these goals with digital content development, communication planning and social media management.

United Nations Secretariat, US
Communications Contractor
02/2020 - 03/2021

The UN Secretariat has 44,000 global staff. Based in New York, HQ I helped communicate policy, processes and systems. Providing strategic communication products, creative visuals and communities of practice, my role was to engage staff and deliver understanding.

United Nations Secretariat, US
Global Internship
01/2019 - 07/2019

I arrived knowing little about the UN. I left with the ambition to build my career within such an organisation. Creating knowledge sharing products, editing websites and routinely preparing briefing notes for staff was fun. Learning from others and developing new skills was even better.

Centre For Education, ES
Projects Communication Associate
11/2014-05/2017

Coordinating several projects at once. Collaborating with colleagues in different countries. Disseminating outcomes for impact. This role was important. It shaped my character, attitude and professionalism. I gained broad communications experience, central to my future roles.

Marine Conservation Society, UK
Information Officer
03/2014 - 10/2014

The task: communicate a Corporate Social Responsibility campaign between a global consumer brand and the Marine Conservation Society. The approach: engage local community groups, schools and businesses through dynamic talks, media articles, radio features and public events.

Values

Collaborator

Sharing ideas. Offering support to others. Realising new approaches. Discovering I was wrong. Effective team working lies at the heart of everything I do. It brings performance to my work and builds strong relationships.

Proactive

There is always more impact to make and agendas to shape. Alongside tasks to be completed, I am thinking further, exploring more widely and questioning more deeply.

Fair

Consistency towards people and behaviour underpins my character. Whether praising or sharing what could be improved, I work hard to be objective with everyone (including myself).

Idealist. (But no dreamer)

I strive for a more equal and just world. I believe we have more in common than that which divides us. I also recognise that progress is incremental, change is a journey not a destination and compromise isn't weak.
